S&J Diggers    and  Consultants

17/5/2015

At great expense and time, S&J Diggers and Consultants are ready to take on any drainage problems around your home.
We have gained a lot of practical experience over the past week and are ready to take on any job, large or small.
Our fees are very moderate and we guarantee to make a mess.
Wherever we go we leave our mark.  But given time, all the dirt and mounds of mud will disappear into nice lawn.

When next at the airfield, you will notice a drain (on the northern side of our airfield) running parallel with the roadway past the shade cloth area to the eastern fence boundary.  A second drain located against the tree line, running parallel with the first drain also leads to the eastern fence boundary.  We are hoping this second drain will take the flooding Eudlo Creek waters away from the eastern end of our main runway.

This is stage one of our new car parking area which will be progressively back filled and turned into lawn.

Streamer Cutting - Its good fun!

23/3/2015

Sunday, 22nd March, 2015

Nothing improves your depth perception and flight skills, than trying to cut a 12m streamer being towed behind a powered 'glider', while simultaneously trying to avoid collisions with your club mates.

Below is footage from a very nervous Bixler 1.1 Park Flyer under 'attack' from various members Park Flyer aircraft tasked with cutting the towed streamer. A small 'key chain' camera has been attached to the tow model and the footage has been edited for the highlights.

Models used include Profile 3D, Powered glider, scale civilian and scale warbird generally in the 1m (approx) wingspan Park Flyer class.

Although potentially hazardous for the models involved, thanks to EPO foam construction, any collisions are only a few hours away from airworthiness. Fun indeed!

Cattle Grazing In Paddocks Around Airfield

6/3/2015

6th March, 2015.

Sixty (60) head of cattle have arrived in the paddocks surrounding our Airfield.  Some are brown and some are black.
Should your aircraft come down outside our Airfield, the farmer's wire gates at the eastern and western end of our Airfield can be used to gain access.
IMPORTANT:  It is very important that the farmer's wire gates be kept closed all all times to prevent the cattle straying back into our Airfield.  So, shut the farmer's wire gate when going out and when returning back to our Airfield.
These cattle will need a few weeks to settle into their new surroundings, so we would suggest that two or three members should go together to retrieve the aircraft.

4th March, 2015
The Airfield is OPEN for all flying activities.
The runways are in good shape.
The grass adjacent to the 'Pilot Safety Barrier', shade areas and parking areas has been slashed.

The shade areas, amenities and parking areas are in full use.

And the weather is FINE with only light winds.   It's perfect flying weather.

See you there.

Standing at the wind sock, the runway towards the East is closed.  The South East runway, the western end of the main runway and the South West runway are open.
Although the grass is long, members with Park Flyer aircraft (hand launched models) can still enjoy a good time of flying.

Restricted Car Parking
Limited car parking is available in front of the shipping container until the other grassed areas are free of water and are firm enough for vehicles.

WARNING   -   Culvert along Dirt Road to our gate
Temporary cross overs at the culvert are in place on the dirt road to our gate.  Please drive carefully over the culvert.  We hope to have this repaired in the next few days.

Mowing of the Airfield
We are planning to mow the airfield on Friday from 11 am.

Novelty Fun Fly Day
planned for the 1st March, 2015 has been postponed to a time in the future to be advised.
Although the runways will be OK by Sunday, the shade cloth area and car parking areas are very wet.

Airfield is open to all Ducks.

21/2/2015

Cyclone Marcia is coming our way and the airfield is awash.  Only the Ducks have been given clearance to take off and land.
The flood plains of Eudlo Creek (where our airfield is located) is living up to its name with at least 400mm of water everywhere across all runways.  The bridge at Malones Road is well under water.  Please, do not even try to go through the water over the bridge as we value the lives of all our members.

24th Feb, 2015 - The airfield is open.

Now, nothing can stop Doug Henderson (right) who received his Bronze Wings with certificate (Fixed Wing-P) from his instructor Geoff Pinkerton.  Congratulations Doug.  You will have to make more room in the china cabinet at home.
