Formation of Phoenix Model Aviators Inc

The Phoenix Model Aviators was formed on the 27th April, 2013 at Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia for the purposes of fostering and advancing the construction and operation of all forms of model aviation in a setting where informality and safety of operations prevail.  We promote an atmosphere where pleasure, recreation, fellowship, and co-mingling can be fostered amongst individuals who enjoy the sport of building, research and development, and flying of model aircraft.

1st Anniversary  -  27th April, 2014

From 11am on the 25th April, 2014, members, family and friends celebrated the first anniversary of Phoenix Model Aviators with a Birthday Party at the airfield.
The weather was good with a blue sky and only a light breeze.
Novelty events including a 'chuck glider' competition for the ladies were run.  Demonstration flights in Aerobatics, Old Timer Powered Gliders, Control Line and the Gold Wings Schedule were performed.  General flying continued throughout the day.
After the nibbles, biscuits and chocolates, hamburgers, sandwiches, cold and hot drinks were consumed.  The days activities were topped off with a good slice of birthday cake.        We had a wonderful time.

Incorporation

On the 29th April, 2016 our club became incorporated and is now to be known as Phoenix Model Aviators Inc.  The full articles of incorporation are available here for those who wish to read them.

Enthusiastic Membership

Since formation, our members have contributed a lot of energy in the preparation of the airfield which includes road access, installation of the shipping container, the development of runways and the construction of the shade cloth protection stands for the pit area.

Currently, our numbers have grown to some 60 members.

Other than mowing of grass runways and general areas, it is now back to the business of flying model aircraft.

Our Interests

We are fortunate to have members who are interested in the construction and flying of various types of aircraft.  Often you can see sports aircraft (of all types), aerobatic aircraft, auto gyros, drones, gliders (old and new style of all sizes) and warbird aircraft.

The airfield is large enough to cater for control line models.
