Phoenix - Australia Day - Morning Tea

27/1/2015

Not to be disappointed because of heavy rain over preceding days, the planned Australia Day Flying Event, Morning Tea and BBQ luncheon was altered to a 'Morning Tea' only at the Diddillibah Hall.
In all, 35 people enjoyed the fellowship, nibbles, lamingtons, tea, coffee and much sort after, cold drinks.
Our thanks goes to Bill and Desley Rogers for making the morning tea so enjoyable.
25 members participated in the prize draws with three members going away with $25 each to assist with their aeromodelling
activities.

Phoenix Airfield is OPEN

At 7am this morning the airfield was opened for general flying.
The water over the runways has disappeared although the Eastern end of the main runway and the SE runway are out of action.
All being well, the runway will be mowed this afternoon, Sunday.
A temporary car park has been marked out because the normal parking area and shade cloth areas are far too wet.

Phoenix Airfield is Awash

Due to heavy rains around Maroochydore and the Sunshine Coast hinterlands, our airfield has become flooded with water which is as deep as 300mm to 400mm.  The Eudlo Creek has overflowed the bridge and roadway.
We have closed the airfield until further notice.
